Genesis

I am Santosh Kamble. I was attracted towards social work right from my college days. But I was confused as to what is to be done for serving the socieity. I was observing the works of various Organizations. In the beginning, the thought of formation of such organization was not there in my mind. But the strong desire to do social work was in my heart. I was eager to work in the field of education. In the earlier days, I was thinking of starting an educational Organization. In those days, one of my friends in Social Welfare department suggested me to start Ashramshala (Orphange) for the students of Scheduled caste. He asked me to submit the report to Social Welfare office and he promised to extend every possible help. and I turned up my thoughts into that directions.

For starting the Ashramshala, the Organization was necessary. I started search of such an Organization. I experienced many hurdles. And suddenly a thought struck to me. Why am I searching for the Organization? Why should I not found such Organization myself? I decided at once to form such an Organization. But it was not that much easy. I gathered my friends. Among those friends, I conveyed my decision to Dilip Gamare, Chandu Kambale, Pravin Kolapate, Sandip Kambale, Sandip Tawade. They replied… “Do you wish to start an Ashramshala, then proceed and start to form an Organization. We are with you.” As soon as they nodded, I started working. I framed the objectives of the Organization, prepared the constitution. Determined the workfield. Now the main problem – What name should I give to my Organization?

I came to my friend one Mr.Devidas Kamble, who is government servant. I asked him to suggest a proper name for my Organization. He suggested the name ‘Heritage, Culture Art & Education Development Society”. This name was pretty long and the words in this name were english. After fixing this name, I once again took a meeting of my colleagues. I put before them all the papers like Objectives, Memorandum of Association, Articles of Association, Work field, Aims etc. We discussed together and it was unanimously decided to form an Organization.

The date was 26th July 1994. The co-incidence was this date was the anniversary of The King of Rayat (Public) Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj, the follower of Social Justice. It was a great auspicious co-incidence that the date of formation of our Organization was the anniversary of Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj , who has devoted his entire life for upliftment of Weaker, derived, the poorer persons in the last rank of the society. I submitted the project for registration of Organization. As soon as I got the registration, I forwarded my project to Social Welfare Office for starting the Ashramshala(Orphange). Shri Pagare conducted the spot inspection and submitted our project alongwith his report to Government. The registration of the Organization was done for starting Ashramshala, but the permission for starting Ashramshala was delayed. Even though, the work of the Organization was not stopped due to this delay. We joined our Organization with Nehru Yuva Kendra, Ratnagiri and started the work of awakening of the society in all respects. Youth development progrmmes, Camps of Youth, Women camps were conducted alongwith the work of eradication of addiction to alcohol and drugs.

The financial assistance for all these works was from not available from anywhere. I was spending my own funds for these programmes. Bharatratna Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar has stated that “One should spent 20% of one’s income on social work.” However, I was spending nearly 50% of my income on social work. Alongwith this work, I implemented the work of Awareness of Pulse Polio Programme conducted by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry of Government of India, through Regional Publicity Office, Ratnagiri.

Then I undertook the work of programme of eradication of addiction to alcohol in the association with the Office of Zilla Vyasanmukti Prachar Ani Prasar Karyalay, Ratnagiri. I faced many difficulties while running this mission. But I did not stop my work. Ultimately, I succeeded in my mission. The poor 17 persons gave up the addiction of liquor after our continuous attempts through our Organization. 17 families turned satisfied, due to leaving the consumption of liquor by their Family Karta. This gave me more inspiration. Our Sanstha and 5 volunteers of our sanstha achieved Certificate from Zilla Vyasanmukti Prachar Ani Prasar Karyalay, Ratnagiri.

We executed the programmes like Health, Problems of women, Problem of child labour and other such problems. Our Organization undertook the programmes like Camps for Awareness of Environment, Workshops, Posters competition by participating with the Organization of Pune. The rally was conducted from Kot to Math in respect of the solution of problem of drinking water. In this mission, the progrmmes of Essay writing competition, Posters exhibition was undertaken. Thereafter another rally was conducted with the message “Keep the environment Green and Clean”. This rally of 34 Kilometers was started from Nivoshi and ending at Shiposhi. The valuable guidance of Government Forest Department, Lions Club of Lanja, Panchayat Samiti, Grampanchayat, educational Organizations, schools of Zilla Parishad and media was obtained.
At initial stage, our Organization played the role of mediatory between Public and Government.Our Organization is marching ahead with the slogan “Unity, Awakening and Development”.The Organization has concentrated on the issues of Education,

Health,Environment,eradication of poverty.The Organization has undertaken with priority the work of conveying the government schemes to deserving beneficiaries among ordinary public. The Organization has started the school at Javade, Tal.Lanja.Our sanstha which was formed for
starting Ashramshala, ultimately started the Secondary school.This work of this school is being run smoothly.

The Organization for the society….. The poverty of thoughts is to be thrown away. We are supposed to carry the society towards rich heritage.The morality of the society is to be enriched…This Organization is for this purpose.I am looking forward for creating the society, which will be rich, flourished, moral, having integrity, self dependent, self sufficient.The expectations of the followers and colleagues has given strength to our Organization.We are prepared for fulfillment of these expectations.My Organization, my colleagues and myself are dedicated towards compliance of this goal.
